Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: 15-25 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 4ºC Sea Temperature: 8ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
There was no wind at high tide, but within half and hour it had picked up
nicely so I headed off to the estuary. I rigged my 6.3m and big board, but
as I did so the wind really filled in to around 22-25 knots so I also riged
my 5m and wave board.
Once I had my suit on the wind had settled down again to around 18 knots so
I decided to go out with the bigger kit. Paul and Tim turned up to go
kiting but took a while deciding what to go ut with. I had a good time well
powered up with my 6.3m and occasionally completely maxed out. The water
was pretty flat so it was just flat out blasting with some really nice
gybing.
After a while the webbing on my harness snapped so I had to come back in to
change harnesses before going back out for another hour, this time with a
couple of kiteres for company. Although, it has to be said that they were
struggling in the gusty winds whereas I seemed to be able to sail along
quite happily always powered up.
Mike went to go out kite-surfing, got as far as getting his toes in the
water when a big gust came through and he ended up packing up there and
then and heading back home.
Jonny turned up a little too late as the water was receeding rapidly and so
as far as I know didn't get to go windsurfing.
Mind you, I'm half tempted to go out again now from the sea front as the
wind is dead crosshore. However, my wetsuit is still soaking wet and the
water is pretty flat out there so it won't be that exciting.
All in all a really nice session blasting around in the sun.
